Mark A. Kleist

Mark represents and helps many closely-held and family-owned businesses with all of their legal needs including entity formation, general contract matters, commercial transactions, tax planning, shareholder/owner issues and disputes, employee compensation and incentives, real estate matters, and business succession planning and implementation. Mark has represented many buyers and sellers in taxable and non-taxable mergers and acquisitions. He has extensive experience in real estate, including commercial and residential development, condominium formation and like-kind exchanges and also has extensive experience with loan and financing matters and represents lenders, to include banks, the SBA and borrowers in all aspects of the loan process.

  • Served as the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce for Grand Haven, Spring Lake & Ferrysburg (2004-2006)
  • Current chairperson of the Northwest Ottawa Chamber Foundation
  • Member of the Rotary Club of Grand Haven (and past President 1996-1997)
  • Past Chairperson of the Tri-Cities Area United Way (1992-1993) and with his wife, Betsy, co-chaired the 1991 fundraising campaign
  • Served on the Grand Haven Coast Guard Festival Board for many years and also served as past President
  • Served on the Board Directors of Grand Haven Bank from 1995 to 2008
