Ryan focuses his practice on all aspects of business, tax law and estate planning, as well as elder law, disability advocacy, medicaid, VA, estates, trust administration and probate. Ryan advises closely-held businesses throughout West Michigan in addition to attending to the numerous legal issues facing the individuals who own those businesses. He also has expertise in the formation and operations of non-profit organizations, foundations and L3Cs. Ryan’s elder law/disability practice includes preparing special needs trusts and representation in guardianships, conservatorships, mental health proceedings and other protective arrangements.

Ryan was born and raised in West Michigan. After law school, he practiced as a corporate and securities associate with a large law firm in Philadelphia for two years before returning home to West Michigan and joining Scholten Fant. Ryan is a regular speaker and educator at elder forums in the community, works extensively with veterans, and volunteers his time by serving on multiple boards for local non-profit organizations.
