Areas of emphasis/expertise:
Todd’s practice focuses are business law, real estate and estate succession planning.
Notwithstanding, his primary role is as counsel to closely-held businesses where it is commonplace for him to serve all business legal
needs, as well as attending to the legal issues facing the individuals and
families that own such enterprises. Todd is well-versed in the life cycle of a
business, including proper entity selection at the onset, growth and reorganization
matters, mergers and acquisitions, owner disputes and transactions, including sales and redemptions. He also advises businesses
on a myriad of operational matters, including taxation issues, transactions,
contractual matters, e-commerce and internet related issues. Todd also provides
real estate counsel to commercial, industrial and residential owners, landlords,
lenders, investors, developers and tenants involving a wide range of matters,
including acquisitions, construction, financing, development, leasing, sales
and tax-free exchanges. Todd’s practice is rounded out by a comprehensive
offering of estate and business planning services, ranging from wills, trusts,
tax and succession planning to trust and estate administration.

Personal:
Todd was raised in Grand Haven and graduated from Grand Haven
High School. He and his family reside in Grand Haven. Todd is an avid
runner, a triathlete, and enjoys skiing and golf with his family.
Community Activities:
Todd is a director and past president of the Tri-Cities Family YMCA, past president of Downtown
Grand Haven, Inc. and a board member of the City of Grand Haven’s
Central Business District Development Authority. He is also a member of
the Rotary Club of Grand Haven, has served on the board of directors of
The People Center, Inc. and volunteered his time at local schools as a consultant
for Junior Achievement of West Michigan. Todd is a graduate of the North
Ottawa Leadership Academies I and II and has served on the organization’s
advisory committee.
